Emissions

This ad in the UK National Press showed an image of the Golf GT TSI with two split backgrounds.  The left side is dark with a wolf with the words "High Performance."  The right side shows a meadow with a deer with the words "Low Emissions."

The Advertising Standards Authority stated that the Golf did not have low emissions compared to all cars and thus ordered the company to pull the ad.

The ASA made the same claim with Lexus regarding its low emissions.  Its ad gives a misleading impression of the car's carbon dioxide emissions compared to other vehicles.

A lot of car companies are touting themselves as green. Yet their track record is not the best. If they spend more money polishing their green image than on actual business practices that minimize environmental impact, then that's misleading.

A good example is an auto maker that touts a line of car to be green, but in reality is not very fuel efficient and has not done much to lower its CO2 emissions.
